SAAC Artist Events

ART ON THE TOWN

This small but lively event in late spring bookends the summer art season with Art in the Park held over Labor Day weekend. Since its inception, Art in the Town has been held at Sunspots Pavilion in the Wharf Historic District and attracts folks from the Staunton Farmers Market and local businesses.

Application Window

Mid-January until early March

Application Fee

$20 fee to be juried into the event. Fee waived for current SAAC members. 

Event Format

Outdoor festival in downtown Staunton. Artists provide their own 10'x10' tents/equipment and retain 100% of their sales revenue.

 

Vendors must have a current City of Staunton Business License or request to be added to SAAC's event license. 

Event Length

Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend

Vendor Fee

$150 per tent for the full weekend (please check later in the spring for potential one-day vendor spots). 

ART IN THE PARK

For over 50 years, SAAC has hosted Art in the Park in historic Gypsy Hill Park. This family-friendly highlights the fine art and fine crafts of local and regional artists.  We welcome everyone for a weekend of art, food, music, and art activities for the whole family. Visitors are encouraged to admire and purchase artwork, chat with artists, and enjoy food provided by a variety of vendors.  Aspiring artists, young and old, are welcome to participate in a children’s art activity area. 

Application Window

Mid-January until early May (rolling)

Application Fee

$20 fee to be juried into the event. Fee waived for current SAAC members. 

Event Format

$200 per tent for full event (Saturday and Sunday). 

ART FOR GIFTS

Art for Gifts is a unique boutique holiday shopping experience featuring handmade fine arts and crafts by local and regional artists.  From traditional holiday presents such as greeting cards and ornaments, to mixed media artwork and textiles, the galleries offer a wide range of one-of-a-kind artful and thoughtful gifts for friends and family. 

Application Window

July - September

Application Fee

$20 fee to be juried into the event. Fee waived for current SAAC members. 

Event Format

Held in SAAC galleries. Artists provide inventory throughout event and receive commission of 60%  retail price.  Taxes, marketing, sales staff are paid by SAAC.

Event Length

Between eight and ten weeks from mid-November to December 31st.
