In celebration of national Youth Art Month and the Staunton Augusta Art Center’s Annual Juried Youth Art Show (opening Sunday, March 3, 1-3pm), the Staunton Augusta Art Center is pleased to collaborate with Mary Baldwin College students to present Saturdays-in-March art classes which offer aspiring artists (ages 6-10ish) an adventure in combining visual art with the performing arts. Each session will also offer exposure to art history and theory and will help develop art skill in a specific medium. Pre-registration ($15 per class for non-members/$13 members) is required at least one week prior to each class by calling the Staunton Augusta Art Center (540.885.2028). Classes are 10:30am-Noon on the 2nd floor of the R.R. Smith Center, 20 S. New Street in historic downtown Staunton, across from the public parking garage.
Dance and Degas, March 9

Check out Pablo Picasso’s use of cubism in conveying musical instruments. With music in the background, move your art pencils to create your own famous drawing of your favorite instrument.
Drama Dioramas, March 30
Will Shakespeare was soooo dramatic. Choose from three scenes from Shakespeare’s famous play Romeo and Juliette and, with mixed media, artistically convey the drama… will you portray romance, fury, or death?
